The newest member of the Byrd family is the Gooney, which differs significantly from the other models. It is characterized by its unorthodox blade shape, which combines the functional elements of the Sheepfoot, Hawkbill and Reverse S patterns to create a remarkably versatile edge. Designed by Spyderco co-founder Sal Glesser, the blade is made from 9Cr14MoV stainless steel and features a full flat grind for exceptional, low-friction cutting performance. The blade is supported by a sturdy back lock housed in a linerless handle with gray, removable G10 scales. The handle features a four-way reversible pocket clip that can be configured for tip-up or tip-down carry on either side of the body to support all carry options. A generously sized lanyard hole at the end of the handle completes the package and allows for easy attachment of tags, lanyards and safety lines.
