The second-generation Military 2 adds a high-strength compression lock mechanism and the versatility of a four-way reversible pocket clip to the venerable Military model. The bar is raised even higher with a blade made from Spyderco's proprietary CPM SPY27 steel. Based on the proven alloy formula of VG-10 stainless steel, SPY27 increases the amounts of carbon, molybdenum and vanadium and adds niobium and nitrogen. Crucible Industries' state-of-the-art particle metallurgical manufacturing process then ensures an even distribution of these alloys throughout the steel. The result is an extremely homogeneous microstructure that maximizes the steel's edge retention, toughness and corrosion resistance. To identify this knife as a member of Spyderco's SPY27 elite family, the handle has removable G10 scales in the characteristic blue.
