Ed Calderon is known for his experience as a counter narcotics officer in Mexico and more recently as a trainer and guru in the tactical space. His experience with knives growing up was purely utilitarian. As his use for knives changed during his law enforcement career, his foundation didn't. That is why El Pionero is such a simple paring knife-esque design. It's got his signature finger divot, that aids in blade orientation among some other things. TOPS' signature 1095 with tan canvas Micarta and a Kydex sheath combined with Ed's eye for design have created a knife that will find its way into the hands of many prepared individuals.
